Last night, SNL mocked CNN's reporting style, with special attention paid to their 'reenactments'. The skit points to the ways in which media coverage has evolved, and especially CNN's own need to simulate news events. "On the faux newscast, Brooke Baldwin (Strong) led the mock cable coverage of everything from the recent Germanwings airplane crash to the ridiculousness being served up by Memories Pizza, the Indiana pizzeria that made headlines and sparked controversy when the owners said they would not cater same-sex weddings." (Quote from The Wrap)
During the semester, I shall post course material and students will comment on it. Students are also free to comment on any aspect of media politics, either current or historical. There are only two major limitations: no coarse language, and no derogatory comments about people at the Claremont Colleges.
