I thought this was very relevant given last the discussion in our last class about misinformation and journalistic integrity.
The Claremont Radius posted an article against sanctuary cities yesterday afternoon.
One stand-out quote from the article before the it was deleted:
"Not only are we spending money for illegals to live nice lives, but also providing funds and space for them in prisons and local jails when they do commit crimes."
The Claremont Radius has - in the year or so it has existed - presented both sides of an argument. However, there's a difference between political discourse and treating people with basic dignity and respect. The article, not only spread wildly inaccurate misinformation and data, but also racist, xenophobic tropes used to target Latinx and immigrant communities - specifically with the usage of "illegals".
Alternative facts are very close to home and on our own college campus, apparently.
