During the semester, I shall post course material and students will comment on it. Students are also free to comment on any aspect of media politics, either current or historical. There are only two major limitations: no coarse language, and no derogatory comments about people at the Claremont Colleges.

Comedy's Role in Politics
I was reading the New York Times and happened upon this article, which seems relevant to our next unit. The article, "True to Mission, Comedy Central Still Strong at 20" discusses the success of Comedy Central. While the network hosts shows like South Park and Tosh.O, which aren't blatantly political, the Daily Show and Colbert Report are overtly political and engage a lot of young adults through the comedic way in which they discuss politics.
